Consistency in formatting

I care a lot about how my code looks on the screen.

Maybe that sounds superficial, but hear me out: Code is read far more often than it’s written. When formatting is consistent and intentional, it becomes easier to spot the meaningful parts of the code — and, importantly, to notice when something doesn’t fit.

As I work on a project, I look for ways to make the formatting consistent and predictable. I’ll share some of my specific habits on the next few pages.
